Well, while it may have been for the best, my Facebook account of 13 years was hacked. I don’t mean that someone created a fake account. I mean I am locked out. and there is nothing I can do. The hacker actually changed the recovery email address. You would think Facebook is used to this and has methods one can use to recover. And they supposedly do. I went through the process. I even had to wait 24 hours for “security purposes”. So I did. I signed in with my new password and nothing! Zilch. Nada. And forget about actually being able to contact Facebook. You can’t. So goodbye to 13 years of pictures, people and posts.
The irony is that I only started to post again after almost two years. It was this blog which I started to share. Other than that, with the exception of messenger and a few groups I belonged to, I stopped reading the news feed back in 2016. Why? Short answer….I could not stand the politics. I couldn’t stomach seeing posts from people I knew fighting with others over the election. The anger, hatred and sarcasm I saw turned my stomach. I realized that people were not debating facts, nor was anyone open-minded to others’ opinions. It was all about feelings, emotions, etc. And when you come from the standpoint of feelings, well, let’s just say the wrong side of the brain takes over. No one’s mind is ever changed and everyone wants to be right.
I started to notice how most people are addicted to feelings. You may say, “How is that possible”? Well, it is. You see, with all things considered, drug addicts, alcoholics are not really addicted to the drug or the drink. It is the feeling they get when taking the substance to which they are addicted. Feelings are made out of emotions. Emotions come from a collection of specific thoughts. Thinks happy thoughts….feel happy emotions. Think bad thought…feel bad. This isn’t rocket science. The problem lies in that if we think the wrong things for a long enough period of time, those thoughts become a habit. Once they are a habit, you engage in them without conscious thought. This is Psychology 101.
The problem further grows because most people will not see or admit they are addicted. And just like drugs and alcohol, the first step in breaking the addiction is admitting you are addicted. But if you think people who argue and demean others who do not share their political opinions (And this happens on BOTH sides) are going to admit they are addicted, I have a bridge to nowhere to sell you. The reason boils down to two more psychological terms: Conformational Bias and Cognitive Dissonance. In short, the former refers to the fact that we only seek out information which conforms to what we believe. So, this is why certain people watch CNN and others watch FOX. The latter refers to our not accepting and rejecting new information if it contradicts our belief systems.
We all conform to these two phenomena in one way or another. The key is to be aware of this and not allow our mind to be controlled by anything other than ourselves; our hearts. No news channel (If you want to call any of these news anymore). No religious views, political views, etc. In fact, the arguments today are about everything and anything. People are so darn angry, I wanted to scream. But, this is why I divorced myself from the drama of social media. It did not do anything good for me. It didn’t lift me up and enrich my life. It did not support my greatest good or any purpose in life. It robbed me and drained me of my heart. And when it comes to my heart, I draw the line.
If there is any advice I can offer in today’s blog, it is to ask yourself if anything in your life (which includes social media) is not serving your greatest good? If it is causing you grief, anger, depression, discord; anything that serves to bring you down rather than lift you up, then take a breath, step away and get back in touch with your heart. Again, I am not talking about the pump in the chest. I am talking about the connection and energy of the center of our Soul which connects us to the Creator. For whatever reason, everything in this world right now is trying desperately to turn us away from this connection and replace it with either a form of Artificial Intelligence, or something created by something with an agenda. Either way, it does NOT have your greatest good at heart because it or they are not operating from the place of Heart-Soul Creator connection.
So, is it more important for you to be right? Or, is it more important for you to connect to your Soul and its Creator and live out your Divine Purpose of Being? I chose the latter. I hope you do too! My desire is for everyone to do this because this world is getting ugly. But when you connect and live through your Heart, you wind up living in the world, but are not of the world. Now, learning to NOT allow the horrors of this world to rock your boat, well, that’s another challenge, and another blog! Luckily I overcame that obstacle and the views are truly beautiful from my vantage point! Won’t you join me on the mountain top?
If you enjoyed this post and feel someone you know can benefit from it, won’t you please consider sharing it with others? Thank you and remember, you ARE perfect and you ARE loved!
